Mr.
David C. Swanger: Director
A
1984 graduate of Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach,
Virginia, Mr. David Swanger takes pride in referring to himself
as a product of the Virginia Beach City Public School system.
He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Old Dominion
University in 1989 and 2001, respectively. Mr. Swanger has worked
in the Virginia Beach school division for the past 15 years. The
first 11 years he taught virtually every Technology Education
course offered to Virginia Beach junior and senior high school
students. During those same years he also coached football, track
and sponsored the Technology Student Association. Before coming
to the Tech Center, he spent four years as an assistant principal
at Floyd E. Kellam High School.
As Director of the Tech Center, Mr. Swanger will continue the
long-standing tradition of preparing our students for the ever
changing, challenging, and competitive work place, providing them
with the knowledge and skills necessary to be life-long learners,
and affording them every opportunity to further their education.
He believes that the Tech Center provides its students with unparalleled
educational experiences that fall nothing short of exemplary status.

Mr. William J. Varga: Assistant Principal
Mr.
William J. Varga has been at the Tech Center for 12 years. Earning
his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Secondary Education from
the State University of New York, he has served as an assistant
principal for the Tech Center, Salem and Princess Anne High Schools.
An avid sports fan, Mr. Varga coached at Green Run and Suffolk
High Schools. Mr. Varga finds managing over a thousand students
from 11 different high schools and supervising 23 technical courses
a rewarding and challenging experience. He believes that the Tech
Center is one of the very few scholastic centers where a student
can earn high school credit, college credit, and serve a professional,
gainful internship simultaneously during the school day
