Baking
Description:
This is a two year course for students interested in a career
in the food service industry. The program of study includes cooking
techniques, baking and pastry, hospitality, math, writing skills,
professional development, sanitation, certification and management
skills. Each class operates a restaurant during school hours.
Students are also offered opportunities to participate in off premise catering
and community service.
Special
Course Features include: An opportunity for Serve
Safe Sanitation Manager Certification, articulation with Tidewater
Community College, and articulation with Johnson & Wales and
Stratford Universities pending.
Suggested
Prerequisites include: Basic math, science and English
Requirements
include: Uniforms will be purchased through the Tech
Center: Chefs Jacket, white dress shirt, black work pants (i.e.
Dickies), white socks, head covering and black work shoes. Grades
are deducted for improper uniform.

Fees: Program dues do not apply at this time.
Safety
Requirements include: Uniform and strict adherence
to the National Restaurant Association's Serve Safe Sanitation
Management Certification (O.S.H.A.) safety standards.
