Are you a detailed person who is interested in health sciences? Check out Practical Nursing, an 18-month, three credit program open to high school seniors and adults, where you will learn many of the skills the healthl profession is seeking in qualified candidates! You will learn in a state-of-the-art lab and on-site at hospitals for real clinical experiences. After the first nine months, you will have the opportunity to earn the highly regarded Certified Nurse Aide certification. At the completeion of the second nine months, qualified students can take the National Council Licensure Examination - Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN), which will allow the student to begin entry level practice. |

All students at the Tech Center have the option to obtain an internship towards the end of their experience here. The philosophy is that there is invaluable knowledge and experience to be gained working side-by-side with a professional in an actual environment. Instead of internships, the Nursing program students participate in clincals at local health care centers that gives them hands-on experience and face-to-face patient interaction in specialized settings like elder care, psychiatric care, pediatric care, and acute, adult care. The clinicals vary from location to location, but the students work closely with their nursing instructor and the nursing and medical staff and gain independence and confidence. |
