Where Nursing is both an art and a science:
If you want to make a true difference in the lives of others, check out Practical Nursing, an 18-month (three HS credit program) open to high school seniors and adults, where you will learn many of the skills the health profession is seeking in qualified candidates! You will learn in a state-of-the-art lab and on-site at hospitals for real clinical experiences. After the first nine months, you will have the opportunity to earn the highly regarded Certified Nurse Aide certification. At the completion of the second nine months, successful graduates of the Practical Nursing program are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination - PN, which will allow graduates to be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Virginia Board of Nursing. Students will also prepare for the Workplace Readiness Skills for the Commonwealth Examination.

Nursing student working with the teacherEstablished in 1972, VBSPN offers over 40 years of experience producing top quality nurses who serve the community locally, the military and abroad. Our small class sizes ensure that each student is afforded personalized attention with hands-on instruction in our state of the art simulation lab and at various clinical facilities: Sentara Southside Hospitals, Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital, Westminster Canterbury on the Chesapeake Bay, Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children.

Internships

All students at the Tech Center have the option to obtain an internship towards the end of their experience here. The philosophy is that there is invaluable knowledge and experience to be gained working side-by-side with a professional in an actual environment.
